A -Age structure
1 - the category of the population (less than 15 years)

2 - the category of middle-aged population (15 to 64 years)
This category is about (52.2%) of Basra's population. This is the category to contribute to the production process and the basis of manpower in the community and a pillar of the national economy.
3 - the category of older persons (65 years and over)
The proportion of older persons around (3.7%) .

B - Gender composition 
Means the number of males in proportion with females, this percentage has increased recently due to the return of many migrants to their regions, reaching the proportion of the gender in the province of Basra in 2007 to approximately (101.6) males per hundred females.
