| BIC holds a Symposium for the Geological and Mining Survey of Basrah |

In coordination with The State Co. of the Geological and Mining Survey, BIC held a Geological Symposium under the title of (The Mineral Resources and the Prospects of Mineral Investment in Basrah).
Mr. Jalal Al Nouri ,BIC's Vice Chairman in his opening speech said" this symposium comes within the efforts to strengthen the bonds of investments through Mining and attract investments in this regard". Adding " we can make use of the information provided by the professionals of the Geological Survey Co. in Basrah to have more knowledge about the nature of our soil which is rich of enormous resources ". Throughout its research and database, the state Co. of Survey and Mining expressed its readiness to provide all the necessary information required by the investors .Mr. Waleed Al Jubouri said "The Company is trying to pin point all minerals in Iraq in terms of quality, quantity and usage and taking the advantage to use it for investments". He also explained" the mineral investment in Basrah is of great significance that will be of huge benefit to the city". Adding "The total area of Basrah is 19807 square kilometer which is diversified in terms of the geographical change, it is suitable for planting on one hand and is suitable for the industry on the other hand". Engineer Ja'far Hameed said" The quality of sand in Basrah is good for the production of thermal stone and bricks and gypsum ,the quantity of sand in Basrah is about one hundred million tons in addition to the availability of rocky compositions ,gypsum and carbonic materials". He also explained" 17 million tons of sand is good for the production of bricks in Safwan district where Sanam mountain located, the height of the mountain is 80 meters of gypsum rocks and 18 meters of limestone.Basrah has 400,000 tons of natural salt that being used for the petrochemical and fertilizers. The current mining Investment in Basrah can be confined in Al rafediah,Jabal Sanam and Shoaibda."
